Public Service Competencies
PSPA 610 Group Final

I am able to demonstrate an ability to manage collaborative relationships with other organizations.
I have worked with many groups within an organization in the program. In the Village of Riverside, I was a management intern and routinely worked with the Public Works Department and Building Departments on projects. In the Village of Palatine, I have assisted in projects for the IT department and manager's office as an HR intern. I have had extensive collaboration experience with other students in the M.P.A. program. Attached are examples of collaborative work I have been involved in.
PSPA 605 Wild Fire Simulation

This simulation required collaboration which is why I include it in this competency. There were council members with their interests, such as the Water Authority Manager and business coalition. I was an environmentalist whose goal was to protect the forest, and I had to manage my interest and consider the needs and wants of the other council members. This exercise tested to what lengths I would be willing to go for someone to achieve my goal.
I am able to analyze options for managing conflict situations.
In 2022-2023 the Village of Palatine began engaging in a collective bargaining session with the Palatine Police Department. Many viewpoints need to be addressed when engaging with a police union. I am one of the prominent people helping with research for the village to have bargaining chips going into every meeting. The contract still needs to be settled, but I will upload the work conducted once it is.

I am able to organize, facilitate, and document a public meeting or information-gathering session of citizens, clients, and stakeholders about public service issues demands in a local government setting.
This is an example of minutes I take for the new IT governance commitee. This commitee is seen like an open forum for IT project's going on in the village. They will use this commitee discuss which ongoing project should require immediate attention.
